Don Murray is nearly retired...but not quite. In this collection of essays and stories, he injects humor where one wouldn't expect it and offers uncommon perspective on the issues of our lives from the death of his son to love and sex. From politics to parenting, Don Murray rips the masks off it all, often with incredible courage. Notes from Geezerville is a great read that will leave its readers wanting more.

I liked this book. It's an easy, always interesting, and sometimes provocative read. I like the mix of personal stories with political/social commentary (with good insights and interesting viewpoints). Some of the stories are not written as being personal, but my hunch is that they all are. Which makes the mix even more interesting.I like his writing style. It's clever and witty and direct. There are more Ah-Hah! insights in this little gem than I would have expected.
The author is progressive/liberal/compassionate in outlook. And he's no wuss - he's a Viet-Nam Vet and a patriot. He's fought some really hard battles, especially on behalf of abused children, of which he was one himself. And he's gone through some hard times personally. He's emerged from all that with what I think is a pretty sensible world view. Well, I agree with him, so it seems sensible to me. :)
I like this man, and I like his book.
My only complaint is that this is not available (am I wrong?) in paper. I would love to have a copy sitting in my bathroom to share with friends.

Notes From Geezerville edition by Donald Murray Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I've had the pleasure to read many of Mr. Murray's short stories, and was thrilled to see a compilation. The words flow with humor, compassion and intelligence. I look forward to his first book with unbridled anticipation.
Witty and well written. I enjoyed it. Light and a very quick read. Donald wrote about everyday life. Some great, some not so great and some just fun with the mundane stuff.
I purchased this book this morning and once I started reading it I was drawn in so deep that I could not stop reading. Before I knew it I was finished and it was dinner time. I had read all day. This book was fantastic. This is a very talented author and I look forward to reading his next book.
A well-written book, just perfect for a weekend. There are many topics from the life of a natural born progressive thinker. The book was sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always insightful and engrossing. I look forward to his next book. I'm certain it will be just as entertaining and just as significant statement of life.
It takes courage to face the demons and the pain we hide from ourselves. And considerably more to share that darkness with others. Our author boldly takes this a step further, sharing unspeakable moments of pain and sorrow with us, the reader.
This is a very moving and compassionate book, but I would not recommend it for your evening reading. Although the book is short it will perhaps stir emotions so deep you will want to read at a slower pace allowing you time to grasp it all.
Don's success is to bring the reader close but not so close as to drown you in the pain. Sometimes you will feel as though a cloud is hiding the greater portion, you are allowed to see only the edges of his pain.
The saddness is managable when Don quickens your heart with his love story! The night he met Diane, his wife, will delight you and put a smile on your face.
